[Barcelona]The cat-and-mouse game between Police and street vendors takes special forms, revealing unexpected features of public spaces. At the boulevard Avinguda de la Reina Maria Christina, for instance. At night, when the fountain show of Font Magica begins, the boulevard is crowded with tourists and street vendors: the Top Manta. Manta refers to the carpet, which the vendors use to display their items. As soon as the police arrives to wipe illegal vendors from the streets, the Top Manta pick up their carpets, cross the fountain, and install their carpets on the other side of the street. There the cat-and-mouse game continues in the opposite direction.
